2023–2026 Philanthropy Recipient:
Literacy Achieves

Literacy Achieves changed approximately 1,300 lives in 2023–2025 through improved literacy.

PHWC Member generosity has made a real difference—thank you!

Currently, Literacy Achieves meets at two different locations. The East Dallas Christian Church location (downtown Dallas) needs renovations to classrooms (both adult and children’s) as well as updating computer labs. The good news: The church has agreed to share 50 % of these costs with Literacy Achieves!! The Vickery Meadows location, near the Preston Hollow area, also requests updates for their computer labs and minor building repairs. General needs for the program include updated software and zoom software, allowing students to attend classes remotely. And Literacy Achieves would like to expand into a new location, making it easier for students to take classes in their community.

Rebuild computer labs: $6,000

New Adult Classrooms: $7,500

Upgrade Children’s classrooms: $2,000

Vickery Meadows

Upgrade computer labs: $3,000

Adult building repairs: $3,000

General Program Needs

Zoom software: $3,000

LitNim Software (to streamline administrative tasks): $3,000

Field trips/refreshments: $2,500

New Project

A pilot program at Wesley Rankin Community Center is proposed to begin Fall 2025: $3,000
